A Wild & Intimate Two-Day Elopement in the Dolomites | Real Story from Danielle & Matthew

Two Days of Adventure, Intimacy & Pure Love in the Dolomites

Some couples know from the very first moment they meet that they’ve found something rare. Danielle and Matthew are one of those couples. They met online, chatted for weeks, and then finally met in person at a small local restaurant. Matthew remembers feeling like time stood still the moment Danielle rounded the corner – relief mixed with a spark that neither of them could ignore. Danielle felt the same: his sense of humor, warmth, and adventurous spirit immediately drew her in. From that first date, filled with hours of conversation and laughter, they knew their journey together would be anything but ordinary.

We had the joy of joining Danielle and Matthew as their photo, video, and planning team, helping craft an intimate and adventurous 2-day elopement experience in the Dolomites. From scouting the most magical spots for their sunrise ceremony at Lago di Braies to planning the golden-hour picnic at Passo Giau and capturing their pre-dawn hike at Cadini di Misurina on day two, we guided every step of the adventure while documenting their story in a way that feels authentic, emotional, and timeless.

When it came time to plan their elopement, Danielle and Matthew wanted their celebration to feel just as authentic and adventurous as their relationship: intimate, intentional, and stress-free. Instead of a traditional wedding, they opted for a 2-day adventure in the Dolomites, blending romance, exploration, and meaningful moments into every hour.

DAY 1: Lago di Braies Sunrise Ceremony

The adventure began with Danielle and Matthew getting ready together in their hotel room, sharing quiet, tender moments before the day unfolded. They had a super early wake-up call with Danielles hair & make-up stylist arriving at 3AM, but that wasn’t a problem at all, they were super excited for their Dolomites Elopement day.

They started their day at the breathtaking Lago di Braies for a sunrise ceremony with a first look and a private exchange of vows, sealed with a pinky promise and a gentle dip kiss. We captured them on the dock and in the boats, soaking in the tranquility of the lake and the golden light reflecting off the water.

Lago di Braies is definitely one of the most famous, but also most stunning lakes in the Dolomites. There you have the opportunity to rent the boathouse for a private early morning. You can find more information on this here: Lago di Braies Boathouse Booking. We even wrote a comprehensive guide on “How to elope at Lago di Braies“.

DAY 1: First Dance & Sunset Picnic at Passo Giau

Later, the couple shared a first dance at their hotel, showcasing a beautifully practiced routine. Their day continued with a drive to a sunset picnic spot at Passo Giau, stopping briefly in a forest for fairytale-like photos along the way. The evening was filled with golden-hour light, champagne popping, dancing, and a decadent tiramisu treat, all against the dramatic backdrop of the Dolomites as the sun slowly set.

Day 2: Pre-Dawn Hike & Sunrise at Cadini di Misurina

Day two began with an early morning hike to Cadini di Misurina, where Danielle and Matthew carried their little “Adventure Awaits” signs on their backpacks. The quiet of the pre-dawn mountains was magical, and as the Alpen glow lit the peaks, they danced, sipped coffee, and soaked in the breathtaking scenery. Danielle’s dress train caught the soft morning light, creating dreamy, romantic photos at the viewpoint.

After celebrating the sunrise, the couple hiked back together, capturing joyful and adventurous “just eloped” moments along the way. It was a beautiful, intimate finale to their 2-day Dolomites adventure, leaving them with memories that will last a lifetime.

Why Multi-Day Elopements in the Dolomites Are Pure Magic

One of the biggest advantages of a multi-day elopement is that it allows couples to enjoy their day without constantly posing for photos. We completely get it – you want those Pinterest-worthy, picture-perfect moments. But you also want to actually live the day, be at ease, and feel each moment. Multi-day timelines give us the space to capture artful, cinematic images naturally, without interrupting the flow of your adventure. You can dance, hike, share quiet coffees, or pop champagne at golden hour, all while we capture the emotion, movement, and story in a way that feels effortless and authentic.

For Danielle and Matthew, their two-day adventure allowed them to immerse themselves fully in the Dolomites, connect with each other, and create memories that a traditional wedding simply couldn’t offer.

Multi-day elopements also allow couples to layer meaningful experiences over time: a private sunrise ceremony, forest walks, golden-hour picnics, pre-dawn hikes, or playful adventures on a boat. Every moment becomes part of your story – a story that’s lived fully, not just captured.

Benefits of a Multi-Day Elopement in the Dolomites:

  • Freedom to fully enjoy your day without rushing or constant posing

  • More opportunities for authentic, cinematic photos and videos

  • Time to explore multiple locations and experiences (the Dolomites are huge and it can take some time to get from A to B to C).

  • A slower pace that allows for connection, reflection, and adventure
