Real Ski Wedding in the Austrian Alps
Need a reason to get married in winter? Try doing it on skis and instantly become the most badass couple ever. Just like C & P. 😎 Their skiing wedding in Austria became a beautiful winter wedding experience in Forstau, near the Reiteralm, surrounded by the Austrian Alps, snow and the people who matter most to them.
And let us tell you: this day was epic from start to finish! From a first look in skis to a ski hut ceremony in ski boots and then the entire wedding party skiing down the mountain together – this day was pretty hard to beat!
C & J’s Winter Wedding in Forstau, Austria
C & J decided to get married in Forstau, a a small mountain village in the Salzburg region of Austria, located close to the popular Reiteralm ski area. In winter, the landscape transforms into exactly what you might imagine for an Austrian Alps winter wedding: snow-covered mountains, alpine forests, cosy huts and a peaceful atmosphere away from the bigger ski resorts.
First Look on Skis
Forget the traditional first look. Now imagine standing in the middle of the snowy Austrian Alps, waiting for your bride and instead of walking towards you, she comes skiing down the mountain towards you.
C & P’s first look was exactly that: unexpected, playful and completely them. Because why walk down the aisle when you can ski towards your future husband? Absolutely epic!
Ski Hut Ceremony & Skiing Down the Mountain
After their first look on skis these two lovebirds had a ceremony at a ski hut. Could there be a more Austrian way to get married? We don’t think so!
So C & P exchanged their vows at a cosy ski hut high in the mountains, surrounded by snow, incredible alpine views, a free ceremony conducted by the wonderful Sonja Louven and their closest family and friends. And yes: they even had their ski boots on for the ceremony.
Once the ceremony and celebrations at the hut were over, everyone clipped into their skis and skied down the slopes together. No traditional wedding exit or classic getaway car. Just the newlyweds, their favourite people, ski boots on and an entire mountain waiting for them.
It’s exactly the kind of moment that makes a skiing wedding in the Austrian Alps so special, because your wedding day becomes a fun experience that everyone gets to be part of.
And honestly, watching an entire wedding party ski down the mountain together is pretty hard to beat. But see yourselves!
Where they stayed for their Winter Wedding: Hotel Forstauerwirt
For their wedding weekend, C & J and their guests stayed at Hotel Forstauerwirt in Forstau in Salzburg, where they also had their dinner and party in the evening. Having everyone stay in the same place is one of our favourite ideas for an intimate destination wedding. Instead of everyone arriving just for a few hours on the wedding day, you get to spend more time together.
For a skiing wedding in Austria, staying close to the slopes makes the entire experience even easier and more relaxed – so Hotel Forstauerwirt was the perfect choice.
