So, to make things easier, we’ve gathered the questions we hear most often from couples: Think of this as your shortcut to all the practical info, without having to dig through ten different websites.
01 When to elope in Greece?
The best months to elope in Greece are April – June and September – October. In these months it is warm but not too hot, and we’ll have fewer tourists.
However, if you’re leaning toward a city elopement in Athens, or a cozy celebration in Crete or the Peloponnese, winter can be surprisingly magical too. Think quiet streets, candlelit dinners, and ancient ruins all to yourselves.
02 Can foreigners legally get married in Sicily?
Short answer: Yes! But, it can get a bit tricky as you need translated and notarized documents. Many couples therefore choose to do the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Greece instead – it’s simpler, faster, and still just as meaningful.
03 How much does it cost to elope in Greece?
It depends on your style, but a simple 2-person elopement in Sicily with photography, videography and flowers can start around €10,000 – €12,000. Add in travel, activities, and luxury accommodation, and it could be €15,000+. 04 Can we combine our elopement with a honeymoon in Greece?
Absolutely – and we recommend it! Greece is perfect for a few extra days (or weeks) exploring. You could relax on the beaches of Cefalù, wander through Palermo’s markets, hike Mount Etna, or take a ferry to the Aeolian Islands. You can also take a flight to other parts in Italy or Europe after your elopement, like the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Tuscany, Greece, Spain, etc.
05 Is Greece an all-year-round-elopement destination?
Yes! Even in winter, southern islands like Crete or Rhodes offer mild temperatures and fewer crowds – perfect for a romantic elopement with less crowds.
06 Do we need permits to get married in Greece?
For private venues, you won’t need a permit – you’ll just book the space. For historic sites, or nature reserves permits might be required. For natural spots like beaches normally no permits are required, but we want to follow the “Leave no trace”-Rules so we can enjoy those places for the next years and decades to come. 07 How far in advance should we plan our Greece elopement?
If you’re aiming for the most popular months (April-October), we recommend booking at least 4-12 months in advance. That way you get your preferred vendors, accommodation, and the best ceremony spots. If you’re flexible, we can sometimes make magic happen even on shorter notice.
